Introducing the cobas HPV TEST

We are excited to offer our clients the next generation of HPV testing with the cobas HPV test. Most other HPV tests pool all the high-risk types and report the result as either negative or positive. Additional testing is required for types 16 and 18 which increases turn-around time and adds cost. With the cobas HPV test all of this information is included in a single test. You get a pooled result for types 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, and 68, and individual results for type 16 and 18.

The cobas HPV test provides our clients and their patients with vital information about the presence of the two highest risk HPV types. Types 16 and 18 together are associated with over 70% of all cervical cancers1. Colposcopy is recommended for women ages 30-65 that have a negative Pap but test positive for HPV types 16 or 182. There is no extra charge or wait time for these results. We remain committed to providing you with the best service possible. Please give us a call at 608-255-5135 if you would like to learn more about HPV testing at Dane County Cytology Center, Inc.
